Information You Provide Directly

- Lecture Notes: Text notes you write during lectures
- Questions: Questions you ask about lecture content
- Images: Photos of whiteboards/chalkboards you capture
- Audio: Audio recordings you choose to record during lectures
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Which slides you view, time spent on each slide, and navigation patterns
- Engagement Metrics: Activity indicators such as mouse movement and tab visibility (used only to calculate your personal engagement score)
- PDF Metadata: Titles and page counts of PDF files you open with SlideScope
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and extension version
Information from Third Parties
- AI-Generated Content: Study guides created by processing your notes and questions through third-party AI services
How We Use Your Information

How We Store Your Information
- Local Storage: Some data (cached notes, preferences) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API
- Cloud Storage: Your notes, questions, images, and study guides are stored on secure cloud servers to enable sync across your devices
- Retention: We retain your data as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time through the extension settings
How We Share Your Information
Information Shared Within Lectures
- Questions: If you disable "Anonymous Questions," your name is visible to your professor and classmates when you ask questions
- Upvotes: When you upvote a classmate's question, this action is recorded but your identity is not revealed to other students
- Notes: Your personal notes are NEVER shared with others unless you explicitly choose to share them
Information Shared with Third Parties
- AI Services: We send your notes, questions, and lecture content to Google Gemini API to generate study guides. Google's privacy policy applies to this processing
- No Selling: We NEVER sell your personal information to third parties
- No Advertising: We do not use your data for advertising purposes
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights and safety.
Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all data we have about you
- Delete: Delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Correct: Update or correct your personal information
- Export: Download your notes, questions, and study guides
- Opt-Out: Disable engagement tracking or anonymous question features

Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:

However, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
SlideScope is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
Third-Party Services
SlideScope integrates with:
- Firebase: Cloud storage and real-time database
- Google Gemini: AI study guide generation
- OpenCV.js: Image processing (runs locally in your browser)
Each service has its own privacy policy that governs their use of your information.
International Users
SlideScope is based in the United States. If you use our service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and stored in the U.S. By using SlideScope, you consent to this transfer.
